Our services
It is never too late to ‘exercise’ our brain.
At the body and brain institute, we have designed a series of special treatment and exercise programmes we tailor to the needs of each individual, based on their condition and pathology. The aim is to restore lost information to the brain so that movements can stop being recognized as antigens (foreign bodies) by the body, which reacts by developing inflammation and illness. Treatment results in a different meaning-bestowal of the ‘before’ and ‘after’.
Our methodology is based on the ‘body-in-the-brain’ model. It includes both hands-on guidance (functional integration) and verbally guided awareness through movement (ATM). It aims to change cortical, sensory and motor mapping through experience and training. The sequence of movements in each session allows the brain to prepare improved movement patterns.
The range, direction, forces and speed of each pattern are improved, and the action is ultimately achieved. The individual develops stability, balance and confidence during the movement and, moreover, cognitive function is also enhanced.
Private treatment (Functional Integration – FI)
Trained practitioners manually apply an individualized movement framework to develop the connection between movement, sensation and focus. In cases where conditions may be limiting, such as with chronic pain, where sensory motor amnesia is noted and in turn affects the neuroimmune system, this systemic process provides individuals with information to help them learn, unlearn and reprogram thought, behaviour and sensation.

Group sessions (Awareness Through Movement – ATM)
In group sessions, movements are slow because the goal is to perform them with self-awareness. The slow pace of the movement is the key to self-awareness and self-awareness is the key to learning. This helps to improve strength, flexibility and ease of movement. Somatic education is completed in each session by linking movement to everyday functional activities.

Brain and Body Fitness
Brain and Body Fitness is a new, ground-breaking exercise system. It brings a different approach to how one exercises, emphasizing the relationship between brain and body and aiming at better cognitive and physical health. The programme incorporates mild resistance work. It is designed to strengthen muscles through synergy.

Neurodance
Neurodance is the result of the collaboration between Triantafillia Reziti and Maria Kousouni. It is a series of educational seminars where the actual movement of the human body is incorporated into ballet techniques. New pathways are experientially opened to imprint dance techniques. This is similar to the manner in which the developmental organization of movement functions through neuroplasticity
